WE ARE.
The City of Play is a not-for-profit organisation delivering Tinkertown, a den-building event where children and grown-ups design, build, and play; celebrating creativity, adventure, and the right to play.
THE CITY OF PLAY.
The City of Play is a not-for-profit organisation, based in Central Scotland with a network of creative practitioners across the UK. We deliver Tinkertown — a large-scale, hands-on den-building event created by Bobby Lee, where children and their grown-ups come together to design, build, and play using real tools and materials.
Believing that play is vital to healthy childhoods and thriving communities, Tinkertown champions the right of every child to play freely while also bringing families together through shared creativity and making. The event transforms open spaces into vibrant, temporary towns built by children and adults, where imagination, teamwork, and fun lead the way.
Our vision is to bring child-led adventure play throughout the UK, inspiring children and adults to be creative, work together, and enjoy hands-on making. We aim to create experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and leave lasting memories.
If you want us to bring Tinkertown to you, get in touch. We work with anyone who is interested in adventure play — schools, festivals, councils, or other organisers — to create an event that encourages everyone to design, build, and play together.
