Event Assistant.

The City of Play is looking for a dedicated and energetic team member to join our organisation. We are a small team with big goals, working in a fun and dynamic environment.

 

The City of Play’s “Tinkertown” project is a temporary, playful place-making event, supporting children and families to design and build their own dens and structures from scrap timber. Visitors are provided with training and tools and are free to play, learn and discover while developing their creativity and construction skills.

 

The role involves supporting the team in the delivery of Tinkertown events and working with children and young people/families. As well as advocacy of the brand, children’s rights and play in general. We host events sporadically between March and October at locations all over the UK, including festivals, educational settings and community events. Due to this, part of the role will require, on occasion, extended travel hours and overnight stays. 

 

The opportunity is presented as a variable hours agreement with an hourly paid rate of £13.80. All travel time and expenses incurred will also be paid for by The City of Play.

 

As part of the team, your responsibility will be to:

 

  • Assist the team on prep work, delivery and clear up of the events

  • Lift and manually transport heavy goods/materials

  • Engage, encourage and support participants

  • Capture content for dissemination to enhance our brand awareness

  • Travel to events located around the UK (van driving may be required)

 

Applicants are required to have:

 

  • Passion for play-based learning

  • Experience (or willingness) in working with children and young people 

  • Adaptability in working in diverse and inclusive settings

  • Flexible working hours

  • Creativity with a positive attitude and good work ethic

  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Driver’s licence and access to own vehicle

 

Desirable, but not essential:

​

  • Social Media Experience (particularly Instagram)

  • Good understanding of design and/or construction

  • First aid trained

 

Applicant will be PVG checked following job acceptance.

 

Must be available to work Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th of March (daytime hours tbc).
